Molecular Basis of Inheritance

In a DNA strand the nucleotides are linked together by
A. Glycosidic bond
B. Phosphodiester bond
C. Peptide bond
D. Hydrogen bond

B. Phosphodiester bond

The phosphodiester bonds are formed as the result of the condensation reaction between phosphate groups and hydroxyl groups of two sugar groups. For instance, the group that is being formed by the bonding of one oxygen atom and one hydrogen atom is called the hydroxyl group.
