Respiratory Rhythm Centre (Medulla): Primary controller of respiratory rhythm; Pneumotaxic Centre (Pons): Moderates functions of the rhythm centre (reduces duration of inspiration); Chemosensitive Area: Highly sensitive to CO2 and H+ ions (oxygen has insignificant direct effect).
