Respiratory Volumes and Capacities

TV (Tidal Volume): 500 mL (normal breathing); IRV/ERV: Extra volume inspired (~2500-3000 mL) / expired (~1000-1100 mL) forcefully; RV (Residual Volume): Air left in lungs after forceful expiration (~1100-1200 mL); Vital Capacity (VC): Maximum air a person can breathe in after a forced expiration (ERV + TV + IRV).
