Types of Nephrons

Cortical Nephrons (85%): Loop of Henle is very short and extends only slightly into the medulla. Vasa recta is absent or highly reduced; Juxtamedullary Nephrons (15%): Loop of Henle is very long and runs deep into the medulla. Prominent vasa recta present.
